Update on the 1st of November 2020
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a second national lockdown from November the 5th, due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases. There are no restrictions with regards to medical treatment and you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments. Routine dental treatment is essential health service, so routine care including examination, hygiene and treatment appointments will continue as before.
At Witney Dental Practice we have all the necessary PPE and will continue to follow our high standards in cross infection control. We can reassure you that with all our robust protocols, the practice remains safe to all our patients and staff.
We will contact you up to 48 hours before your appointment to discuss any potential symptoms and it is part of our triaging protocol.
When you arrive, we advise you wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional. We will measure your temperature and if above 37.8 C, you will be advised to reschedule and follow government guidelines. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines, we can’t allow you to stay in the waiting room for more than 15 minutes. Also, we ask you not to bring any extra belongings such as shopping bags etc. Any handbags and coats will be placed in a safe, supervised box and you will be given alcohol sanitizer to disinfect your hands.
You will then be taken either to the waiting room or directly to the surgery room for your treatment. Each room has been disinfected and we have invested heavily to improve the air exchanges in the rooms with air filters and extractor fans.
After your treatment, you will place your mask back on and given hand sanitizer. A staff member will then take you either to reception or to your box with belongings and exit the practice.

Update on the 29th of May 2020.
Following the announcement by the government on 28th May, we are incredibly pleased and excited to announce that we will be re-opening Witney Dental Practice from Monday 8th June 2020!
We have had to cancel numerous appointments since the lockdown began 3 months ago and will initially be prioritising appointments for our existing patients who have had dental emergencies or appointments cancelled, in order of urgency. Please do not attend the clinic unless you have an appointment.
Below we have listed new protocols for the practice
Communicate medical circumstances, and medical history beforehand online or on the phone
Communicate dental problems and symptoms beforehand on the phone or online to assure the right treatment planning
Reduce contact to others during your dental visit (except dentist and nurse)
Reduce contamination by aerosol or touch
Simplify payment options to avoid unnecessary congestion
Optimise the air quality in our surgeries
Optimise surgery times to assure all treatment can be fulfilled in one session
Dedicate certain surgery times to vulnerable or elderly patients
Before entering the practice
Before reopening we will contact you to do a Pre-attendance assessment which includes your medical history, personal details and other forms. This link will be sent to you shortly via Email or SMS. Please fill out all the requested information as much as you can so we can assess the individual risk factor and communicate with you via Emails or messages. Please make sure the questionnaires are completed as soon as possible.
Please be aware that we will first book in all the dental emergencies which accumulated in the last weeks. We are also planning on extending our surgery hours to accommodate our patients in need of dental treatment. A reduced amount of dentists will work on a day with their team and a rotation system will assure that your dentist is available for you. Your dentist or the receptionist will contact you via Mail or phone to get familiar with your symptoms or dental problem beforehand
The day of your appointment
We are asking you to wait outside and ring the bell to let us know you arrived. This is to avoid any waiting time within the premises . You will be greeted by one of our staff members keeping the safety distance and advising you to sanitise your hands and to place a mask at the entrance area of the practice. Your temperature will be assessed at the entrance. Our staff temperature is also monitored on a daily basis. Then you will be guided into the surgery where everything will be ready to start the dental treatment.
In the surgery
You will be covered by an apron. During the dental treatment we will use something called a rubber dam to reduce the release of droplets out of your mouth. We also installed into each surgery an air purifier/steriliser which kills airborne viruses and bacteria and cleans the air during the treatment on a normal setting and in between patients on a turbo-setting. The dental team will look a bit different as we will be even more covered up using our Personal Protective Equipment but don’t worry, we are still the same people underneath and we will try to make this time in the dental chair as joyful as ever.
After the Treatment
After the treatment you will be guided out of the premises.
Payment can be done up front/afterwards over the phone or afterwards monitored by our staff member.
Please DO NOT enter the practice without an appointment and do not enter the waiting room. The bannisters, door handles, and other surfaces will be disinfected meticulously and regularly.
This policy will be constantly reviewed and updated as necessitated by circumstances over time.
